Morriston Ladies Choir was formed in 1941. Originally the choristers were all members of the First Aid Defence Group but the present membership is drawn from all walks of life including housewives, lecturers, teachers, civil servants and nurses. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday at Tabernacle Chapel in Morriston and all new members are welcome. The Choir give concerts regularly to raise funds for local charities and have performed with male voice choirs, military bands and orchestras. It has appeared on the Welsh Language programme 'Heno', and has been on local radio stations, namely Radio Wales and Swansea Sound. As well as performing concerts for charitable organisations, the choir also takes bookings to sing at other venues including weddings, social events, after-dinner engagements etc. Through the dedication and hard work of the choristers and Musical Staff, the choir looks forward into this new millennium, hoping their efforts will be rewarded with a greater public awareness of ladies choirs such as the Morriston Ladies Choir. It is with great sadness that on April 21st 2009, Mr John Edwards, President of the Morriston Ladies Choir, passed away. He will be greatly missed by Morriston Ladies Choir and everyone who knew him. Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time. Read full orbituary here
